I had the feeling Ableton Live could do a lot, lot more than what I was doing with it. I was using my computer keyboard and mouse to control it. While this does work it’s incredibly fiddly and time consuming.
Last week I finally cracked and went out and bought this baby; a Roland A-500PRO midi keyboard controller. These used to include Cakewalk in the name but this is the newer model and they’ve dropped the Cakewalk epithet.
It’s mid-range price-wise at 219.99GBP but boy the quality is superb! I have not stopped exploring with it all week.
It absolutely brings Ableton Live to life. The range and variety of available sounds is mind boggling.
I’ve had to pause and re-adjust my musical horizons to allow for all the new possibilities.
Here’s a little taste of one sound on it’s own. It’s the Maxellini Pad with a bit of reverb added.
